Client Ecolab, Inc. Building The building was reportedly constructed in 1968. A 2 inch thick granite soffit panel had fallen off the building. Scope of Service Encompass Inc. was retained to perform a forensic investigation and provide repair recommendations for the exterior facade of the Ecolab Building, from which a 3 foot by 4 foot soffit panel had fallen. Description The soffit panel disconnection was the result of all connection anchors failing. The cause of this was insufficient force to the anchor wedges during installation. This, combined with thermal, vibration, and building deflection resulted in an ultimate failure. It was recommended that following immediate protection of the areas in the vicinity of granite soffit panels, repair of the panel connections around the full building perimeter be performed. |
