Client Aggregate Industries/Masterblock Building The exterior wall assembly contained three wall types: a single whthe CMU wall, a composite wall with a 4 inch CMU veneer, and a cavity wall with a 4 inch CMU veneer. All three wall types were experiencing vertical cracking, and hairline cracking was present throughout the facade. Scope of Service Masonry investigation Description Invasive wall openings were opened to observe the wall reinforcement. It was noted that there was a gap between individual reinforcement pieces. Wall reinforcement testing was performed using a Proeq Profometer reinforcement locator and it was confirmed that the vertical cracks were the result of inadequate reinforcement. The discontinuity in the reinforcement was concentrating shrinkage, resulting in the cracks. |
